Help set water quality goals for Iowa

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is hosting six public input meetings as part of its three-year review of water quality standards and goals. This is your opportunity to share your views on potential pollutant levels, how streams are being used and how to protect existing water quality.

• 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 3 at the Rock Island Depot, 102 Chestnut Street in Atlantic.

• 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 3 at Spencer Public Library (Round Room), 21 East Third Street.

• 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 4 at Washington Public Library (Nicholas Stoufer Room), 115 West Washington.

• 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the West Des Moines Public Library (Community Room), 4000 Mills Civic Parkway.

• 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sept. 9 at the Falcon Civic Center, 1305 Fifth Ave. NE, Independence.

• 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 9 at the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce Lakeview Room, 10 North Lakeview Drive.

Those not able to attend may submit written comments by Oct. 15 to Rochelle Weiss, DNR water quality standards coordinator, at Rochelle.Weiss@dnr.iowa.gov. Following the public comment period, the DNR will meet with the stakeholder technical advisory team to develop a work plan to address concerns.
