HF 548 – Disconnection Devices for Distributed Generation
FLOOR ACTION:
HF 548 requires the Iowa Utilities Board to adopt administrative rules relating to the safety of distributed electric generation facilities (e.g., solar, wind, etc.). The bill requires all distributive generation facilities placed in service after July 1, 2015, to have a disconnection device installed at an easily visible location that is adjacent to the customer’s electric meter. Those facilities placed in service prior to July 1, 2015, must be identified with a permanent place card and have it installed on the meter that clearly identifies the location of the disconnection device. The customer that has this type of interconnection service must notify the fire department of distributive generation facilities and their disconnection devices upon the completion of their installation.
