June is Great Outdoors Month in Iowa, where natural resources are so important to our quality of life.
It’s a great time to enjoy activities like biking, swimming, hiking, paddling, fishing, hunting, boating, bird watching, camping, and exploring our lakes, prairies, woodlands, rivers and wetlands. Enjoyment of the outdoors fosters a deeper appreciation of our natural resources, which eventually leads to better environmental stewardship.
It’s also good for the economy. The national economic impact of outdoor recreation exceeds $650 billion in annual expenditures, and in Iowa alone, outdoor recreation supports 105,000 jobs.
