Through October 1, communities can apply to fund roadside and trail plantings through Iowa’s Living Roadways Projects program. Communities of 10,000 or fewer residents and Iowa counties can apply for funds to plant native trees, flowers, shrubs and grasses to restore wildlife habitat, improve community landscapes, address runoff and more. Funding of up to $20,000 is available.
A Trees Forever field coordinator will help review project plans, site designs or draft applications. Trees Forever will also provide assistance once the project funding has been awarded. Further details and applications are at www.treesforever.org/ILR_Projects.
