Through Feb. 26, small rural communities looking to renovate or deconstruct abandoned commercial and public buildings can apply for funding through the Derelict Building Grant Program. The Program emphasizes reuse and recycling of building items, improves street appearance and commercial development, and alleviates the environmental concern some buildings can pose.
Funding is awarded annually on a competitive basis. Financial assistance includes asbestos removal, building deconstruction and renovation, and inspections and environmental site assessments.
