Iowa Senate News Release
State Senator Chris Brase: (563)260-5416
State Senator Joe Seng: (563) 391-1627
For Immediate Release: February 16, 2016
Davenport area residents are invited to join Senators Chris Brase and Joe Seng for a discussion of Medicaid privatization and other legislative issues this Friday. The meeting will be held Friday, February 19th, 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at CASI, the Center for Active Seniors, at 1035 W Kimberly Road in Davenport.
“We need to make sure the Medicaid health care safety net is strong, so it is there if Iowa families need help,” said Senator Brase. “Last week, Democrats and Republicans in the Iowa Senate responded to the people we represent by voting to end Governor Branstad’s Medicaid privatization mess.”
On Thursday, February 11, the Iowa Senate voted 29 to 19 for Senate File 2125. The legislation would terminate the managed care contracts. The legislation also directs the Iowa Department of Human Services to pursue initiatives to improve the health care delivery system and focus on integrated, patient-centered care.”
“If ending privatization doesn’t become law, we must be ready with expanded, tougher oversight that will protect Iowa families and Iowa health care providers,” said Senator Seng.
