A Governor’s proclamation went into effect September 20 allowing overweight loads (up to 90,000 pounds gross weight) of soybeans, corn, hay, straw, silage and stover on Iowa roads. The proclamation expires after 60 days and does not apply on interstate roads.
The proclamation helps farmers transport this year’s harvest without the need for special permits. The Iowa Department of Transportation will monitor the operation to assure the public’s safety and facilitate the movement of the trucks involved.
