A Marshall County Sheriff's deputy was awarded the 2013 GOLD STAR Award at the Iowa State Sheriffs' and Deputies' Association Winter School Banquet Tuesday in Des Moines. Sen. Steve Sodders, of State Center, was one of two recipients in the state to receive the award from the ISSDA. Sodders was selected by the ISSDA to receive the award for his experience as a Marshall County Sheriff's deputy and for sharing his firsthand experiences as a peace officer in the Iowa State Senate.
